Every now and then, my desk becomes a fevered hive of company activity. “Your job is so cool, I wish I did that,” becomes part of the daily chat. The reason is a simple one: The Catalysis Christmas game. And this year was no different.
Last year’s game “Snowhere to Hide” was a great success with Catalysis clients and friends alike. Bombard the hiding staff with snowballs, grab the high score and feel satisfaction at a job well done. For some reason, people seemed to like spending hours throwing virtual snowballs at us. I can’t imagine why.
So this year was another chance to give the people what they want. We brainstormed a few ideas, downhill skiing, extreme snowboarding, jumping elves, but finally settled on this year’s game, “Christmas stuffing”.
The idea is to guide Cuddly Santa (possibly a familiar member of staff to some of you) around the screen eating the floating Christmas puds, while at the same time avoiding the spiky snowflakes with evil Catalysis faces. Santa grows bigger and bigger the more he eats, not far from reality, it must be said.
We had a lot of fun making the game; even the usually camera shy members of the team were happy to pull a face to get onto the spiky snowflakes. Why not give it a go? No prizes, just bragging rights. The office competition is fierce enough…
We’ve had a fantastic year here at Catalysis and the office closes on the 23rd for a well earned break over Christmas and the New Year. We’d like to thank all our friends and clients for the continued support. We’ll be back on January 3rd ready to kick off 2012.
